UN Human Rights Council 55: UK Statement on human rights in Venezuela

Thank you. Deputy High Commissioner, Deputy High Commissioner, Thank you, Mr. Vice-President. 2024 has seen an increase in the targeting of human rights defenders, including the arrest and detention of Rocío San Miguel. We remain deeply concerned about her case, and the increase in number of political prisoners to 264. This includes union leader Victor Venegas, who was recently released under precautionary measures, and four opposition campaign leaders, three of whom remain forcibly disappeared.
