Press release: UK pledges extra assistance to help Pakistan rebuild right after floods

The united kingdom and its international partners may today (Monday 9 January) join forces to support Pakistan rebuild and recover from the unparalleled floods last summer that affected tens of thousands of people. This financing is in addition to support the UK has already pledged for climate resilience and adaptation within Pakistan. Last year, Pakistan was to the front line of the effect of climate change whenever catastrophic flooding swept aside homes and livelihoods, leaving 20 million in need of humanitarian assistance.   • Today’s announcement takes the total UK contribution to the flood response to £36 mil. This follows over £9 million of UK help being allocated to help with tech support team in disaster and environment planning, and to provide education and healthcare to those affected.   This includes supporting twenty, 000 students to return in order to school and providing principal healthcare services to 170, 000 people. This most recent funding is on top of £55 million already pledged for climate resilience and adaptation in Pakistan.
