Third, as SRSG Perthes told us, the security circumstance across Sudan also continues to be fragile. We reiterate our own deep concern about the substantial violence in Blue Earth State and West Kordofan. However there is much more to be accomplished. We now urge all Sudanese parties to urgently unite behind a final agreement to form a civilian-led government. Second, we should be clear that the implications of delay in getting to a final agreement would be severe. The efforts by just about all parties involved to agree on genuinely civilian-led transitional governance arrangements are commendable. All of us call for an inclusive dialogue on the outstanding issues to commence without delay, and support a strong role for UNITAMS, along with the AU and IGAD, in facilitating these Sudanese-led negotiations. I also welcome the existence of the Permanent Representative of Sudan in our meeting The United Kingdom is committed to supporting Sudan’s journey to democracy, and the realisation from the Sudanese people’s calls for independence, peace and justice. President, first, I would like to welcome the particular signing of the political platform agreement as an important step toward a return to a civilian-led transitional government in Sudan. We urge the Sudanese authorities to implement the security arrangements of the Juba Peace Agreement, engage with the impacted communities to restore peace, and fulfil their responsibility to safeguard civilians. Thanks a lot. A civilian-led transitional govt can put the country on the path to recovery and allow for the complete resumption of international support. The United Kingdom is working with companions to coordinate significant economic support to a civilian-led transition government once it is produced. The United Kingdom condemns the killing of 2 more protestors in the confirming period and calls for the security forces to exercise optimum restraint and to respect the perfect to peaceful protest. To conclude, President, the United Kingdom commends the compromises manufactured by all parties to agree the initial political framework. Approximately one third of Sudan’s population is projected to be in need of humanitarian support in 2023. A concerted effort to finalise negotiations is essential to address Sudan’s immediate humanitarian and economic issues.
