Colombia Donation Of Collection Of 18 Literary Works By Colombian Women Writers

This year Barbados and the Republic of Colombia commemorates 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations and reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship and forging deeper bonds of hemispheric community.The donation of this specially curated collection recalls the cultural and historical linkages between Barbados and the Republic of Colombia and is symbolic of the deepening people-to-people ties that continue to bind the countries. This collection further presents the opportunity for all Barbadians to engage meaningfully with Colombia’s culture and language, especially as Barbados seeks to become a multilingual society.Barbados and the Republic of Colombia established diplomatic relations on February 1, 1972 and since then have enjoyed amicable and cooperative relations in a range of areas, including culture, trade, health and regional security.The donation occurred via a virtual ceremony attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Ms. Simone Rudder; Senior Foreign Service Officer and Head of Hemispheric Relations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Mr. Euclid Goodman; Acting Deputy Director in the National Library Service, Ms. Beverley Archer; Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Division of Culture in the Prime Minister’s Office; Director of Cultural Policy and Research, Dr. Donna Greene-Rusnighi; Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia, Her Excellency Mrs. Martha Pinilla Perdomo, Second Secretary in the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia, Ms. Liz Carolina Lozano. Officials from Government and the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia were also present.BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – On October 11, 2022 the Barbados National Library Service, on behalf of the Government and people of Barbados, accepted a collection of 18 Spanish language literary works by Colombian women writers, donated by the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia, at Port-of-Spain, on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Colombia.Author: Government of Barbados
