Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a meeting in Ankara with Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on 15 February 2021.
During the meeting, bilateral relations were discussed and views on regional and international issues were exchanged.
On the occasion of the visit, which was made on the 125th anniversary of the first diplomatic contacts with Ethiopia, the official inauguration ceremony of Ethiopia’s new Embassy building in Ankara was also held with the participation of both Ministers.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey was the 2nd largest investor in Ethiopia, that our trade volume target was 1 billion US Dollars and that we wanted to hold the 3rd Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit this year.
