Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs welcomes Ambassador-designate of Finland

PORT OF SPAIN: 6TH DECEMBER, 2016

Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, received His Excellency Jukka Pietikäinen, non-resident Ambassador-designate of Finland to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, for a courtesy call on Friday 2nd December, 2016. The courtesy call was held prior to Ambassador-designate Pietikäinen’s presentation of his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, S.C., O.R.T.T., President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

During the meeting, Minister Moses and Ambassador-designate Pietikäinen discussed, inter alia, security, regional integration in the Caribbean, and relations with the European Union. They acknowledged the good relations which exist between both countries and also expressed the hope for continued cooperation within the international arena.

His Excellency Jukka Pietikäinen presented Minister Moses with a copy of his Letters of Credence. The Ambassador-designate is resident in Finland.

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Finland established diplomatic relations on 31st May, 1972.
