State Minister for Foreign Affairs discusses the UN envoy in the preparations for the upcoming Somali elections

Mogadishu (MfaSomalia) –  The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Balal Mohamed Cusman, received on Sunday at his office in the Ministry in the capital Mogadish the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia, and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), H.E. Mr. James Swan, and discussed with him strengthening joint cooperation and increasing the effectiveness of humanitarian and development assistance while supporting the Somali federal government programs in holding the parliamentary and presidential elections on time.

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed that the Federal Government of Somalia is implementing a package of reforms in security, justice, and the economy and development projects to meet the demands, needs and aspirations of the people, announcing that the government has consulted with all the Presidents of the Federal Member States, and other stakeholders, which is an internal political development. State Minister noted Respecting the constitutional deadlines is very important to move forward to avoid wasting time and fabricating crises and stopping the progress Somalia is making towards peace and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Mohamed Ali-Nur Haji.
