United Nations Security Sanctions List

Saint Lucia’s International Obligations:

In keeping with our International Obligations under several conventions including but not limited to the Palermo, Vienna and Terrorist Financing Conventions and our legislation (Anti-terrorism Act, Cap 3.16 and United Nations Sanctions (Counter-Proliferation Financing) Act, No 29 of 2019)

Saint Lucia needs to ensure that its framework and systems are in alignment with the global response to combat threats to the integrity of the financial systems thereby safeguarding our own economic well-being;

Saint Lucia is therefore obliged to comply with the United Nation Security Council Decisions and the Financial Action Task Force standards governing Targeted Financial Sanctions Related to Terrorism and Terrorist Financing (Recommendation 6) and Target Financial Sanctions Related to Proliferation (Recommendation 7); (See https://www.fatf-gafi.org/about/)

As part of its international obligations, Saint Lucia shares the United Nation Security Council List concerning natural and legal persons that are subject to assets freeze, travel bans and any other restriction(s) imposed by the Security Council (often referred to as the Sanctions/Watch List).

Financial institutions and other designated business and professions subject to the anti-money laundering (AML), counter financing of terrorism (CFT), counter-proliferation financing (CPF) supervisory regimes are advised to regularly check this list with a view to alerting their AML/CFT/CPF supervisor and comply immediately with the requirements therein.
