Officials tour Hewanorra International Airport Public Health Facility

THE DELEGATION ASSESSED THE SERVICE TRAVELERS TO THE ISLAND ENCOUNTER AT THE PORT OF ENTRY.

Minister for Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs Hon. Moses Jn. Baptiste recently visited the Hewanorra International Airport Public Health Facility to get a better understanding of the experience of travelers to Saint Lucia and to work toward improving the service.

Hon. Moses Jn Baptiste says it was a pleasure to meet the port health team and to gain the opportunity to discuss the challenges faced on a daily basis.

“I was pleased to discuss with those who operate the facility, the challenges and also the advances which have been made over the past few months. This port health facility at Hewanorra International Airport since COVID-19 has been very useful in terms of ensuring that our port health is maintained, that our surveillance activities are on par with the best in the world.”

The Health Minister says his government remains committed to making the necessary changes to improve the travelers’ experience to Saint Lucia.

“Since assuming office, we have had complaints from both visitors and residents about the process through which they board planes and come into Saint Lucia. The staff at the port health facility have implemented changes to make passengers more comfortable and there were discussions over the last few weeks with Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Health, SLASPA to improve the passenger experience here.”

Hon. Moses Jn. Baptiste was also joined on this tour by other officials within the Ministry of Health including the Acting Permanent Secretary Jenny Daniel.
