Improving Traffic Safety at Aupicon and La Fargue

GOVERNMENT AIMS TO REDUCE INJURY AND LOSS OF LIFE ASSOCIATED WITH ROAD ACCIDENTS.

The Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour is currently investing in a project to improve traffic safety in Aupicon, Vieux Fort and La Fargue, Choiseul.

This Traffic Safety Project involves the installation of speed bumps, traffic signs and road markings in an effort to make travel safer for both motorists and pedestrians.

The site in Aupicon is along the Castries to Vieux Fort Highway near the George Odlum Stadium and has been the site of many vehicular collisions, the last being fatal.

In La Fargue Choiseul, improvements will be engineered along the main roadway near the entrance to the new Massy Supermarket.

It is hoped that these interventions coupled with public education will help reduce injury, loss of life and the associated impact of road accidents on the island.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour encourages drivers to use the roads safely by obeying the traffic signs and speed limits.

The Traffic Safety Project in Aupicon and La Fargue will commence this week.
