THE EQUIPMENT ENSURES OFFICERS ARE BETTER PROTECTED WHILE WORKING.
The British High Commission has donated a set of PPE to the Customs and Excise Department and the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF). The handover took place on Thursday, March 25 at the High Commission’s office in Castries. The equipment was provided by the UK Border Force and demonstrates the continued close collaboration between the UK and Saint Lucia governments. Acting Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Mrs. Ava Deterville and Inspector Valentine Caesar were on hand to receive the donation.
Resident British Commissioner, Steve McCready, in handing over the equipment said: ‘It’s important that front line workers are able to provide vital public services safely. On behalf of my colleagues in UK Border Force, who have sourced and provided this PPE as just one part of broader and ongoing collaboration with Saint Lucia’s security agencies, I am delighted we continue to work closely together in this area.’
Mrs. Deterville expressed the Customs Department’s heartfelt gratitude for the UK’s donation and highlighted that the equipment ‘has ensured that officers are better protected while they deliver border protection services to the island’. Inspector Caesar said that this contribution by the UK Border Force signifies the partnership between Saint Lucia and the UK and was pleased that the relationship continues to be a strong one.
