The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the barbaric bombardment by the occupation forces of the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, Jan 2.
The “Israeli” aggression caused innocent civilians, especially women and children, to panic and wake up frightened at the sound of the bombing.
This dangerous escalation coincides with severe deterioration of the health of Hisham Abu Hawash, a Palestinian prisoner on hunger strike for 138 days.
Although the hunger strike is posing a direct threat to the life of Abu Hawash, the occupation still refuses to release him, ignoring all the warnings about the severity of his health condition.
It is worthy to note that Abu Hawash is an “administrative detainee”, a term invented by “Israel” to justify jailing Palestinians without charge or trial.
We, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hold the occupation the responsibility of this dangerous escalation, in addition to the consequences of its deliberate negligence of Abu Hawash’s suffering.
We also warn of a popular uprising, which magnitude is hard to measure or estimate, in the case of Abu Hawash’s death.
In this regard, we call upon all international and humanitarian organizations as well as the international community and regional mediators to immediately interfere and end the suffering of the prisoner Abu Hawash, along with the suffering of 2 million people blockaded in Gaza for more than 15 years.
