MOFA Condemns Occupation’s Assaults on West Bank & Sheikh Jarrah

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Gaza has followed with great concern the increasing assaults by the occupation on our people in Jerusalem and West Bank.
The last of these assaults was the storming of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood by the extremist terrorist “Itamar Bin Gvir” -A disciple of the designated terrorist rabbi Meir Kahana- and a large crowd of his supporters under the protection of “Israeli” security forces, which joined them in assaulting the defenseless residents of the neighborhood.
We have also followed the news of the breaking by the “Israeli” Army into Jenin last night to demolish Palestinian homes and the murder of Mohammad Abu Salah (17 years) in cold blood.
In front of these dangerous developments and the increasing assaults by the occupation army and settlers’ mobsters, we would like to highlight the following:
- First, the occupation is the sole responsible for the consequences of its provocative acts and liable for the assaults of its settlers and leaders. We want to remind the world that the occupation assaults on Sheikh Jarrah were the main cause of the violent escalation in May 2021.
- Second, the Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves, by all means, a right granted under all religions and international laws, especially in the light of the international silence and the absence of serious efforts by mediators to stop the occupation’s assaults.
- Third, we warn of “Israeli” attempts to single out the Palestinian people, taking advantage of the international crisis that grabs the world’s attention these days.
- Forth, we call upon the international community to adopt practical decisions to prevent the displacement of the residents of Sheikh Jarrah, as statements of condemnation and concern are no longer useful.
- Fifth, we call the International Criminal Court and all human rights groups to launch an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the crimes of the occupation, the last of which the murder of Mohammad Abu Salah (17 years) in Jenin last night.
Finally, we send our best greetings to our steadfast people in Sheikh Jarrah and Jenin in particular, and Jerusalem, West Bank, Gaza, and Occupied Territories of 1948 in general and call them to show more solidarity in the face of the occupation and its racist policies.
