Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), received a message of congratulations from Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on September 9.
The message reads as follows:
On behalf of the Party, state and people of Vietnam, we extend warm congratulations to you and, through you, to the Party, the state and the people of the DPRK, on the occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary of the DPRK (September 9, 1948-September 9, 2021).
The fraternal Korean people have accomplished many important successes in the cause of construction and development of the country during the past 73 years under the leadership of the WPK headed by President Kim Il Sung, General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK.
We believe that the fraternal Party, the state and people of the DPRK will, under your leadership, surely overcome all difficulties and challenges, and successfully attain the goals set forth at the 8th Congress of the WPK.
We take this opportunity to assure you that the Party, state and people of Vietnam always attach importance to the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the DPRK which were personally provided by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung and cultivated by the leaders and the peoples of several generations of the two countries.
We are pleased to see the recent development of the relations between the two countries. In particular, the official goodwill visit to Vietnam in March, 2019 by you, Comrade President of the State Affairs, served as an important milestone in the relations of cooperation between the two Parties and two countries.
We are convinced that the traditional relations of friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK would continue to further consolidate and develop to meet the interests of the peoples of the two countries and for peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the rest of the world through joint efforts by the leaders and peoples of the two countries.
