Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), received a message of congratulations from Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), on September 9.
The message reads as follows:
Esteemed Comrade General Secretary,
On behalf of the CPC, the government and people of China, and on my own behalf, I extend warm congratulations and heartfelt best wishes to you and, through you, to the WPK and the government and people of the DPRK on the occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary of the DPRK.
The WPK has exerted constant efforts to rally and lead the Korean people for the past 73 years since the founding of the DPRK, registering great successes in accomplishing the socialist cause.
As comrades and friends, we are sincerely rejoiced over this.
Now the Korean people put all their efforts to carrying out the decisions made at the 8th Congress of the WPK and to spurring the socio-economic development.
We believe that the Korean people would surely build their country better in unity and with redoubled efforts under the firm guidance of the Central Committee of the WPK headed by Comrade General Secretary.
The traditional China-DPRK friendship which is getting much more solid over time is a precious treasure common to both sides.
In recent years, I and Comrade General Secretary have maintained close communication and led the bilateral relations to make them develop in a stable way and thus steadily made good successes which further enriched the traditional bilateral friendship.
I highly value the development of the China-DPRK relations and have intent to develop these ties of friendship and cooperation on a long-term basis and in a stable way and steadily put them on a new stage so as to promote better welfare of the two countries and the two peoples together with Comrade General Secretary.
I wish the DPRK prosperity and your people happiness and well-being.
