New Hit Chinese Film Themed on Resisting U.S. Aggression and Aiding Korea

The Global Times of China carried an article on October 2 under the heading of “Korean War film breaks records, has implications for today’s China-U.S. competition.” The article said that the box office of the new Chinese film “Battle at Lake Changjin” was an all-time record in its debut on October 1.

This film is reportedly about how the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army bravely fought with their strong will, amid the fierce cold of – 40℃, against the U.S. troops armed with advanced weapons in the battle at Lake Changjin during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea in the 1950s.

The Global Times highlighted the feedback from the Chinese people on the film as follows:

A movie-goer posted on SNS the text message: “The Chinese people are not, and have never been afraid of the U.S. 70 years ago, the U.S. could not win the Korean War and they can’t win today’s trade war either.”

A military expert and TV commentator told the Global Times that the film “Battle at Lake Changjin” sheds light on Chinese people’s spirit that the Chinese people are firm in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests and they are fearless whoever their rivals are; the film shows that the Chinese people don’t provoke troubles, but never flinch when trouble comes their way and are able to defeat provocations, which has great implications for today’s China-U.S. competition.

A researcher at the China Institute of Fudan University in Shanghai expressed his view as follows: In view of the long-lasting China-U.S. strategic rivalry, China needs more films themed on the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, which is helpful to enhance China’s cohesion and confidence; the unyielding spirit of China in the strategic competition with the U.S. is the same as what was conveyed in the Changjin Lake battle during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea; with strong material strength and foundation, today’s China is more confident to defeat provocations.

It is said that the film “Battle at Lake Changjin” consumed the biggest budget in the film production history of China, and over 70 thousand people were mobilized in shooting several battle scenes alone.

October 3, “People’s Daily” also carried an article under the title of “Great spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea is vividly depicted”, where the article stressed that the screening of film “Battle at Lake Changjin” when the Chinese people are greeting the 72nd anniversary of their national holiday holds a great significance.

Nowadays, China is reportedly producing many films themed on resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea which show that the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army defeated the U.S. imperialist aggression forces together with our army and people in the 1950s, and these films are quite a hit among the Chinese people.
