Seventy-two years have elapsed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Out of the desire to further develop the friendly relations and to dynamically propel the cause of socialism in the two countries based on the principles of respect for national sovereignty, non-interference in the internal affairs of others, and equality and mutual benefit, the DPRK and PRC forged diplomatic relations on October 6, 1949 soon after the proclamation of a new China.
During the past 72 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the peoples of two countries have shared life and death, sweets and bitters, and braved all sorts of turbulence of the times along the path of safeguarding and further implementing the cause of socialism, thus recording the great history of amity.
The DPRK-PRC friendship with its long historical root is the valuable common asset associated with the dedicated efforts of the leaders of elder generations of the two countries.
President Kim Il Sung established the precious tradition of DPRK-PRC friendship through the common struggle fought shoulder to shoulder with the Chinese revolutionaries against the foreign forces of aggression, and also cherished and fostered this tradition with his genuine revolutionary obligation.
The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il set great store by the militant friendship between the revolutionaries of the two countries and visited the PRC even during the last moment of his great life, thus performing immortal feats in strengthening and developing the traditional DPRK-PRC relations of friendship.
Comrade Zhou Enlai and other leaders of elder generations of China also visited our country several times and increased the friendly feelings deeply rooted in the minds of the peoples of the two countries.
DPRK-PRC friendship, personally forged by the leaders of elder generations of the two countries and firmly cemented through overcoming all sorts of challenges and ordeals of history, is being further developed onto a new strategic level as required by the new era thanks to the deep personal relations between Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK and Comrade Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the PRC.
Out of his strong willingness to bring about overall rejuvenation of the DPRK-PRC friendship, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un met with General Secretary Xi Jinping as many as five times over one year since his historic visit to the PRC in March 2018, thus opening up a new chapter of improved bilateral relations.
The most sincere comradely relationship formed between the supreme leaders of the two Parties and the two countries serves as a cornerstone that firmly buttresses the pillar of DPRK-PRC relations in a new era and as a powerful driving force propelling the growth and consolidation of the DPRK-PRC friendship.
It is our invariable stand to work hand in hand together with the Chinese people for building socialism and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
We will as ever do our utmost to continuously strengthen and develop the DPRK-PRC friendship into a globally enviable one through joint efforts with the Chinese people.
