Chinese Global Times Says China Would Act Immediately If Stationing in Taiwan of American Troops Is Confirmed

The Global Times of China carried an article on August 17 under the heading of “In case 30,000 American troops are stationed in Taiwan, China will start a war for liberating Taiwan.”

The following are the main contents of the article.

A Republican Senator of the United States Congress stated on August 17 via Twitter that the U.S. has now stationed 30,000 troops in Taiwan.

The stationing by the U.S. of its troops in Taiwan is a grave violation of the agreement on establishing diplomatic relations and all other political documents signed between China and the U.S. This is also a serious contravention of the relevant international laws and the American domestic legislation.

This amounts to a military aggression against, and occupation of, Taiwan Province of China and a declaration of war on the People’s Republic of China.

If it is true, we should strongly demand that the U.S. government immediately explain the Republican Senator’s statement, and we should also ask the Taiwan authorities for an immediate clarification.

Since this is a grave case where the U.S. has crossed the final line of China, U.S. troops should unconditionally withdraw at once, and the U.S. government and the Taiwan authorities should make an official apology for it.

Otherwise, we will speedily start a war in Taiwan Strait and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will resolve the Taiwan issue by wiping out the U.S. troops and liberating Taiwan Province.

We are sure that the Chinese government and army along with all the Chinese people will thoroughly wipe out and repel any foreign force that invades Chinese territory, and firmly defend the territorial sovereignty of China.
