Host Country Agreement between Nigeria and AFREXIMBANK on the Establishment of the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Nigeria

Host Country Agreement between Nigeria and AFREXIMBANK on the Establishment of the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Nigeria, was signed by the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama and the Bank’s President H.E. Prof. Benedict Oramah on 30th September, 2022.
AFREXIMBANK, in realizing this laudable initiative is partnering with Kings College Hospital London (KCH), Uni. Of Wisconsin, NNPC, Bank of Industry (BOI) and General Electric among others. AMCE is the single largest private Healthcare investment in Nigeria and Africa in general.
AMCE Abuja, considered first of its kind in West Africa, is designed to promote intra-African medical tourism in areas such as oncology, hematology, cardiology and general healthcare, in addition to promoting training, R&D. It is expected that AMCE will open its doors to its first set of patients in Jan. 2025.
Participants at the signing ceremony included the Hon. Minister of Information & Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed, Hon. Minister of State for Health, Hon. Joseph Ekumankama, the Executive Vice President Governance, Legal & Corporate Services AFREXIMBANK and Executive Vice President Mrs. Kanayo Awani of AFREXIMBANK among other dignitaries.
