It has been reported that airports have closed and domestic and international commercial passenger flights have been suspended until 31st May 2021. Neighbouring countries have also closed their land borders to Myanmar. However, we understand that some flights will be available. Travellers should contact airlines directly to arrange their travel.
A night time curfew has been imposed across the country. Expect an increased security presence country-wide and possibly roadblocks in major cities.
New Zealanders in Myanmar should remain cautious, avoid unecessary travel where possible and stay away from large crowds. Stay home if you are concerned about the security situation.
