Government-led public Anzac Day services overseas will not proceed as usual this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, associated health risks and travel restrictions.
Minister for Veterans’ Meka Whaitiri has also announced that there will be no New Zealand and Australian public Anzac Day services at Gallipoli this year. The minister’s press release is available here.
While we know many New Zealanders around the world will be disappointed that they cannot travel to Gallipoli or attend other Anzac Day services overseas, we encourage them to engage with the Stand At Dawn concept which began in 2020, and which provides a way for Kiwis to take a moment to reflect on everything Anzac Day stands for.
Further information and resources relating to the Stand At Dawn concept can be found here.
