Alumni Challenge on Climate – Win EUR 5000!

Cooperation on climate change is challenging but indispensable. In January, the Netherlands successfully hosted the Climate Adaptation Summit, bringing together world leaders to address this issue. But how to follow up to that?

This March, the Embassy, NufficNeso and the WINNER team organized an event called A Journey of Hope for a climate resilient future. The inspiring session was opened by two Ministers: Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry, and Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, Dutch Minister for Infrastructure and Water Management. They highlighted promising collaboration, before we plunged into the theme of water resilience with an academic panel.

A successful meeting, but climate adaptation does not stop with high-level meetings. We need everyone on board, from ministers, to students. Therefore, we organize an alumni challenge, challenging the vast NL alumni network in Indonesia (+20.000) to set-up a campaign to increase awareness amongst your networks and the IDN public on the Climate Adaptation Agenda. How to reach out to as many Indonesians as possible on the necessity of climate adaptation? Which forms of cooperation can be highlighted? How can you mobilize local communities to work on this? All creative ideas are welcome. The two winners will receive EUR 5000 each to actually roll-out their campaign idea over the summer of 2021.
