Permanent Secretary U Chan Aye attended the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM)(21-9-2022)

At the meeting, U Chan Aye, Myanmar SOM Leader and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the growing numbers of high contracting parties to the TAC and looked forward to the workshop organized by Indonesia to address the gaps in terms of geographical Scope and Application of the TAC in the region. He also updated the meeting on the ongoing progress on the implementation of five-point consensus by Myanmar government and recent developments in Myanmar.
 
U Chan Aye, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) which was held on 21 September 2022 via video conferencing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.
The Meeting exchanged views on the matters pertaining to ASEAN Candidatures to the United Nations Bodies and Other International Organizations, accession to Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and discussed the preparations for 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits and follow-up to the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting which was held on 24 April 2021.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. EAT Sophea, Secretary of State and, ASEAN SOM Leader of Cambodia and was attended by the ASEAN Senior Officials and representatives from ASEAN Member States as well as Deputy Secretary General for ASEAN Political and Security Community of the ASEAN Secretariat.
