THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN TO PROVIDE HUMANITARIAN AID – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia

Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene received His Excellency M.Igawahara, the Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia on 25 March 2024.At the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening the Mongolia-Japan “Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity”, promoting dialogue and mutual visits at all levels, as well as expanding mutually beneficial economic cooperation and confirmed the commitment to deepen cooperation in the regional and international arenas.Furthermore, both parties expressed the willingness to expand and develop “people-centered” relations and people-to-people exchanges between our two countries in 2024, which marks the 50th anniversary of cultural relations between Mongolia and Japan.Ambassador M.Igawahara informed the Prime Minister that the Government of Japan had decided to provide emergency relief goods to Mongolia to overcome the disaster of zud, and handed over the letter of H.E. Fumio Kishida, the Prime Minister of Japan, addressed to the Prime Minister.Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene emphasized that the Government and the people of Japan have consistently supported Mongolia’s sustainable socio-economic development and expressed sincere gratitude to the Government of Japan, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the people of Japan on behalf of the Government and people of Mongolia. He also noted that the Government of Mongolia is taking necessary measures to overcome the disaster swiftly.Ambassador M.Igawahara expressed his hope that the aid provided would benefit the herdsmen, enabling them to overcome the risks of zud with less damage and return to their normal lives.
