“LUNAR NEW YEAR 2024” MONGOLIAN NATIONAL WRESTLING TOURNAMENT TOOK PLACE IN GENEVA – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia

Ambassador D.Gerelmaa extended congratulations to the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation branch in Europe and “Da Sa” group, along with the participating wrestlers, junior wrestlers, and sponsors for their contribution to the tournament’s success.At the tournament 32 Mongolian wrestlers from nine European countries, including Switzerland, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Hungary competed and young wrestler E.Batbayar from the Netherlands, won the first place.Ambassador conveyed the greetings of H.E. Mrs. Batmunkh Battsetseg, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia addressed to the participants and audience as well. In her message, Minister B.Battsetseg emphasized the importance of the Mongolian wrestling as a UNESCO-registered Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, integral to the customs and traditional culture of the Mongolian people. On behalf of the Government of Mongolia, the Minister expressed sincere gratitude for the efforts and valuable contributions of Mongolian communities abroad in promoting their cultural heritages abroad. Furthermore, Minister B.Battsetseg highlighted the “World Mongolians” program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at promoting Mongolian history, culture, and traditions as well as support for Mongolian citizens and non-governmental organizations founded by Mongolian diaspora abroad. The Ministry pledges cooperation and support to the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation branch in Europe within the program.In her opening speech, Ambassador of Mongolia Mrs. Davaasuren Gerelmaa underscored the significance of the Mongolian national wrestling as a cultural hallmark of the Mongolian people and highlighted the role of the tournament as the inaugural event in the series of activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Swiss Confederation.The Embassy of Mongolia to the Swiss Confederation and the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation branch in Europe successfully hosted the “Lunar New Year 2024” Mongolian National Wrestling Tournament on 27 January 2024, in Geneva.
