8 July 2020, Chișinău – The priorities of bilateral cooperation were discussed today during the meeting of State Secretary Dumitru Socolan with the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Chișinău, Kęstutis Kudzmanas.
Discussions focused on the current state of bilateral relations, the prospects for Moldo-Lithuanian cooperation, including by stimulating the political dialogue using the platform of bilateral political consultations at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers, and the meetings of the Moldo-Lithuanian Joint Commission for European Integration.
The Moldovan diplomat informed the interlocutor about the process of fulfilment by the Republic of Moldova of the priority commitments in the relationship with the EU, highly appreciating Lithuania’s support for the European aspiration of our country, as well as for ensuring the progress in implementing democratic reforms.
Officials also exchanged information on the current situation and the measures taken by the authorities of the two states in combating and overcoming the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, Dumitru Socolan reiterated the message of gratitude to the Government of Lithuania for the shipment of protective equipment for medical staff in Moldova, as well as for the important support in the repatriation process of Moldovans from Lithuania.
