Franz Fayot also participated in the release of two initiatives supported by the Luxembourg Cooperation, which includes a pilot project upon inclusive finance implemented from the Alliance for Financial Addition (AFI). This project aims to develop financial inclusion strategies and promote knowledge discussing in this field in Latina America and the Caribbean. Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Fayot also launched the second phase of a regional project implemented by the Worldwide Organization to get Migration (IOM), which seeks to support migrant women in Central America to address the many challenges they face, such as gender-based violence and the associated with climate change. The journey also gave rise to a number of visits to other tasks already supported by Luxembourg Cooperation in Costa Rica included in its regional interventions. Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Fayot met with associates of the Fundación Unión y Desarrollo de Comunidades Campesinas (FUNDECOCA), the Fundación Fundecor , the Movimiento Campesino and the Local Centre for the Promotion associated with Micro, Small and Moderate Enterprises (CENPROMYPE). In San José, Minister Fayot also held bilateral meetings with Carlos Alvarado Briceño, Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications; Manuel Tovar, Minister of Foreign Business; Anna Katharina Müller Castro, Minister of Public Education; and Rafael Gutiérrez Rojas, Deputy Minister of the Environment. Discussions focused on how Luxembourg’s cooperation activities could best contribute to Costa Rica’s growth and public investment focal points. In this framework, Minister Fayot signed the memorandum of understanding along with Arnoldo André Tinoco, Minister of Foreign Affairs plus Worship of Costa Rica, which formalises bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, and also the priority themes on which cooperation will focus. Luxembourg and Costa Rica commit to cooperate in the areas of socio-economic integration of women and youth, climate strength and environmental sustainability, and also social cohesion and human rights, including for migrant populations. These priority regions of intervention are supported and guided by two cross-cutting themes: inclusive and revolutionary finance, and digitalisation and cybersecurity. The particular visit was part of Luxembourg’s new strategic approach to growth cooperation with the region as well as the countries of Central America. It aims to improve the impact and identity of Luxembourg’s cooperation, particularly through regional and multi-partner interventions, and will be complemented by implementation of bilateral development cooperation projects in Panama and nicaragua ,, where Luxembourg intends to establish a diplomatic mission and also a Lux-Development office.
