KENYA PARTICIPATES IN IORA COUNCIL OF MINISTERS MEETING

Amb. J. K. Maikara, Admin Foreign Service Administration, on the 22nd Meeting of the IORA Council of Ministers as well as the IORA Committee of Senior Officials meeting held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 22nd to 25th November 2022.
He reiterated Kenya’s commitment to continue offering the girl support to sustainable growth and management of the Native indian Ocean. “Kenya is currently developing a National Blue Economy Strategy that is inclusive and multi-stakeholder oriented; integrated maritime/marine spatial plan to boost the rational planning, management and governance of Kenya’s ocean space and the environment round the coastline, ” Amb. Maikara said.
He said Kenya is devoted to pursuing regional collaborations within the maritime and marine-culture sector to enhance capacity building for your actualization of the strategy and spatial plan.
Speaking at the meeting, Amb. Maikara said that Kenya continues to be committed to sustainable and inclusive development and management of the Indian Ocean Blue Economy resources.
The COM adopted important policy and strategic files including IORA’s Outlook within the Indo-Pacific and Regulations related to Dialogue Partnerships.
The Native indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) is a dynamic inter-governmental firm aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and sustainable development inside the Indian Ocean region by means of its 23 Member Declares and 10 Dialogue Companions.
“Against this background, Kenya Government remains devoted to ensuring the actualization from the establishment of the legally binding instrument by 2024 meant for complete elimination of Sea Plastic Litter, ” Amb. Maikara stated, adding, Kenya has also developed a critical Nationwide Marine Spill Contingency Plan and a National Marine Litter Management Action Plan.
