New OACPS-EU Partnership Agreement Intialled

On April 15, 2021, the Honourable Hugh Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, attended the virtual initialling ceremony of the New Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and European Union (EU) Partnership Agreement.

The Agreement was initialled by the Chief Negotiators, the Hon. Prof. Robert Dussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad, of the Togolese Republic on behalf of the OACPS and Ms. Jutta Urpilainen, Commissioner for International Partnerships, European Commission, on behalf of the European Union. 

The Agreement will be signed in Apia, Samoa during the latter half of 2021.

The OACPS and the EU on December 3, 2020, concluded negotiations for the New OACPS-EU Partnership Agreement which succeeds the Cotonou Partnership Agreement (CPA). The New OACPS-EU Partnership Agreement like the CPA also provides the platform for reciprocal trading arrangements, including the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
