Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, nowadays received a courtesy call from His Excellency Fabrizio Nicoletti, Non-resident Ambassador-Designate from the Republic of Italy towards the Co-operative Republic of Guyana.



During the engagement, Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Todd noted that Guyana is committed to fostering stronger bilateral relations and relationship with Italy in priority areas of the Government including wellness, education and security. Minister Todd also initiated speaks on visa free visit Italy for the mutual benefit of both countries, particularly via private sector engagements and individuals to people exchanges, which will be superior in the future. Minister Todd more noted that Italy and the European Union remain valuable companions to Guyana and CARICOM. On this note, the Ambassador alluded to several technical cooperation initiatives including Italy’s function in supporting the Agri-Food Systems agenda of CARICOM towards reducing the Region’s food import bill simply by 25% by 2025. The CARICOM Agri-Food Systems Agenda is led by Their Excellency President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. The current implementation from the agenda gives special attention in order to priority crops and products in Member States to do this target. The Ambassador-Designate will be presenting his Letters of Credence to His Excellency, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali today.
