The Honourable Hugh Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation today met with Moses Chavez, Chargé d’ Affaires, Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to relate the Government of Guyana’s denouncement of the Presidential decree “Territory for the development of the Atlantic facade” issued on January 7, 2021 by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The decree sought to claim jurisdiction over marine and submarine area. The unilateral act further contravened the ongoing International Court of Justice case, without due regard for international law and the rights of Guyana.
