His Excellency President Irfaan Ali accepted the Letters of Credence today from the Resident Ambassador of the United Philippine States (Mexico), HE Mauricio Vizcaino Crespo, at the Office from the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.



President Ali pointed to the strengthened relations between the two countries and areas for further collaboration, which includes food security. He mentioned the North American country’s great skillset, technical capabilities and experience as Guyana placements itself as a hub designed for food production in the region. The President said it is vital for your Mexican private sector to comprehend what is taking place in Guyana and to create opportunities to participate the country’s transformation. In the remarks, Ambassador Crespo mentioned his mission is to strengthen relations between the two nations and to celebrate the 50 years of diplomatic ties with new initiatives and projects. Guyana and Mexico founded diplomatic relations on Mar 1, 1973. The Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Honourable Hugh Todd and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Elisabeth Harper, were also in the simple ceremony.
