The second field will be our strategic cooperation partnership with the United States, which is founded on the joint protection of the values of freedom plus democracy, on our participation in defense and other international institutions, as well as on the capitalization of Greece’s geopolitical importance for your promotion and consolidation of security and stability within the wider region.
“Foreign plan challenges for 2023” Parts of asia such as India, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan, which Greece shares common opportunities on international developments, in addition to Australia, the continent that hosts a significant and lively Greek diaspora, constitute the particular fifth field of our actions. Our relations with the African continent, and especially with sub-Saharan Africa, constitute another area of interest for us, since the migratory runs from this region and the chance of emerging hotbeds of terrorism are significant challenges in which our country can play an important role. Lastly, Greece’s active existence in international and regional organisations is important, as it articulates a coherent and persuading discourse, presents crucial plans and seeks innovative methods to address global challenges and consolidate international cooperation. Within 2023, we will continue the efforts to ensure that Greece is certainly elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Authorities for the 2025-2026 term in the 2024 vote. Our country’s foreign policy has long been governed by principles and it is intertwined with stability, protection, respect for the independence plus territorial integrity of claims, adherence to International Legislation and the International Law of the Sea. To defend our national values and interests, interact with our regional and global environment, and achieve the goals, we have chosen to go after a constructive and productive foreign policy based on interdependent fields of action within the new year as well. The first field is our presence within Europe, not only within the construction of the EU, of which we have been one of the oldest members, along with active participation in all the bodies and institutions and systematic work for its deepening and integration, but also on the bilateral level, with nations on the continent with which we have been linked by ties of friendship and cooperation. Developments in Europe, following Russia’s invasion associated with Ukraine, now form the significantly differentiated landscape, which usually requires the vigilance from the European and international local community to address the associated severe challenges and the forces of revisionism. And it is precisely these types of challenges of revisionism that are directly linked to our national interests. As I have made apparent in my three visits to Ukraine since the Russian attack, this narrative and this state of mind can also turn the Eastern Mediterranean region into a “powder keg”. In a rapidly transforming international and regional atmosphere, Greece’s foreign policy will continue to reflect the constant osmosis between national, regional and international developments and the challenges that determine them. Nevertheless , in addition to developments on the battlefield, the energy and food crises may accelerate global advancements, with a particular interest for the country, especially in the field of one’s and Greece’s ability to lead to Europe’s energy security. The third field is a region with which our country keeps close historical and social ties since ancient times: Middle East, Gulf, North The african continent. The situation in Libya remains an unsettled issue and we will work to resolve it, within a spirit of sincerity plus mutual understanding, with the authorities that will emerge from the national elections in that country. The fourth field is the Western Balkans, where A holiday in greece aims to maintain good neighbourly relations, consolidate stability plus security, and create conditions with regard to growth. To achieve these objectives, Greece favours and facilitates the Western Balkans’ Western european perspective. It would be desirable that any reference to neighbouring Turkey inside a framework of rivalry must be absent in a text that will refers to the challenges of Greek foreign policy. Nevertheless , our country faces an unprecedented crescendo of asking and provocation, in terms of both duration and intensity, which is far from any notion of good neighbourliness. In this tug-of-war, we all respond calmly and decisively with substantiated arguments based on International Law and the International Law of the Sea and reiterate that the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country are not a subject for discussion and are not available to the slightest questioning.
