Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias’ statements following their meeting with President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Dramane Ouattara (Abidjan, 11. 01. 2023)

Furthermore, I would like to learn from our interlocutors about the situation in the region, of the security situation in the overall region. And also have more details on the successful summary of the freeing of the forty-nine soldiers from Mali the final days. For me, it had been a great honour and a great pleasure to be received with the President. Please allow me to declare this is the first visit of a Greek Foreign Minister actually in Côte d’ Ivoire and I am really pleased for the warm reception. Furthermore, I had the honour to submit to him the invitation of President Sakellaropoulou to visit Greece and give to him the cozy regards of Prime Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich), Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Côte d’ Ivoire is a country which is doing spectacularly, it is becoming a powerhouse in the region. And we would like the Greek companies to be present and to invest in this particular country. Thank you. The main topic of my discussion with the Leader had to do with our effort to create a strong bond between the two countries. And we almost got into details on how we can enhance the Greek economic presence in Côte d’ Ivoire. Now I am looking forward to our discussions with the Foreign Minister and the Prime Minister to get even more into details of the way you could enhance more the cooperation.
