Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias’ speech at the wedding ceremony announcing Greece’s donation towards the Municipality of Berisso (Buenos Aires, 08. 02. 2023)

Honorable Mayor of Berisso, Mr. Gagliardi
Your Excellencies, Ambassadors of Argentina to A holiday in greece and of Greece to Argentina,
Ladies and gentlemen and, most importantly,
my dear children,
I’d also like in order to thank Banco Nación, plus personally Ms. Batakis, for the cooperation in turning this particular project into a success. I hope that these fields will give a chance to young people to join the national team of Argentina later on. You will also allow me to add some thing on a more personal notice. The team I support in Greece is called Panathinaikos. We could use some exceptional football transfers from Argentina in the years to come.
Thank you very much.
This is a great pleasure and honor for me to be here on the first-ever visit by a Greek Foreign Minister to Argentina. Greece and Argentina are nations that have shared excellent relationships for decades, without a single documented problem between them. The bridge that connects us could be the thousands of citizens of Ancient greek descent who live plus prosper in Argentina.
Of course , I’d like to thank the Mayor of Berisso for his cooperation. Berisso, of course , represents the Olympic ideal of the coexistence of more than twenty organizations. But I’ll be sincere with you. The oldest Greek community in Latin The united states is active there.
I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate not only them but also all the citizens of Argentina for their tremendous victory in the Qatar World Mug. And looking at these teenagers wearing Argentina’s national group shirts, waving the Argentinian and Greek flags, I realize that there are worthy successors of Maradona and Messi. Both my compatriots and am love football. Not only being a sport, but also as an effort that builds conscience, teamwork, inventiveness, and efficiency. Being mindful of this, Greece will co-fund the particular construction of two soccer fields to be named “Greece”.
