Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis to visit Rome and the Vatican (15-16 April 2021)

Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis will carry out an official visit to Rome on 15 and 16 April, for talks with the Italian Minister of European Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola, and meetings with other officials of the Italian government.

The agenda for the Ministers’ talks includes: European coordination on the response to Covid-19, the Digital Green Certificate, EU-Turkey relations, the Conference on the Future of Europe, the Recovery Fund, the Social Dimension of the EU, and migration. Following their meeting, they will make joint statements to the press at Palazzo Chigi (Thursday, 15 April, 13:00 local time).

At 13:00 local time on Friday, 16 April, the Alternate Minister will meet with the Italian Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, and during his stay in the Italian capital he will also visit the House of Representatives to meet with the Chair of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee, Piero Fassino.

On Friday afternoon, Mr. Varvitsiotis will carry out a visit to the Holy See, where he will have talks with the Vatican’s Foreign Minister, Archbishop Gallagher.
