GHANA AND DENMARK TO DEEPEN RELATIONS

On his part, Mr. Dan Jorgensen acknowledged the strong diplomatic relations between Denmark and Ghana in recent years and  noted that both countries have the potential to deepen relations even further. Mr. Jorgensen commended Ghana for its contribution to the promotion of  international peace and security  at  the United Nations Security Council. He also pledged  his Government’s commitment to support and cooperate with Ghana in all areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Hon. Ampratwum-Sarpong acknowledged the long-standing and robust friendship, and cooperation between Ghana and Denmark which is built on a shared commitment to collaborate closely across numerous areas of common interest such as sustainable human development, economic growth, and conflict prevention. On issues concerning insecurity and violent extremism, Hon. Ampratwum-Sarpong called on the Danish partners to support the Accra Initiative in addressing the security challenges in the Sahel. The meeting was followed by a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Targeted Partnership from 2023-2027 between the Republic of Ghana and Kingdom of Denmark. The Denmark Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy, Mr. Dan Jorgensen, as part of a three-nation tour of Africa held bilateral discussions with Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong on Friday 17th November, 2023. The discussions focused on enhancing relations and cooperation between the two countries, in the areas of economic development, peace and security, and good governance. On climate change, the Deputy Minister reiterated Ghana’s commitment to championing the ideals of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and the Vulnerable Group of Twenty (V20), during its term of office as the Chair.
