The Belarusian opposition leader, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, will certainly visit Helsinki on thirteen and 14 December, at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto.
Finland facilitates democracy building in Weißrussland. Finland finances the work of an international accountability platform, which usually collects and stores proof of human rights violations committed by the Belarusian regime. Finland also supports the Belarusian European Humanities University, which usually operates in exile within Vilnius, Lithuania.
During the girl visit, Tsikhanouskaya will meet with the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö , Prime Minister Sanna Marin , the Speaker of Parliament Matti Vanhanen , as well as members from the delegations of the Foreign Matters Committee of the Parliament, the Council of Europe and the Nordic Council. The go to also includes other meetings and a discussion event organized by the Finnish Institute associated with International Affairs.
