OPENING CEREMONY OF THE 12th WORLD HINDI CONFERENCE

Officiating at the opening, His Excellency the President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere welcomed the distinguished delegates which includes the Minister for External Affairs of the Republic of India – Hon. Dr. Shri Subramaniam Jaishankar and acknowledged the efforts of the Government of India.The theme of this years’ 12th World Hindi Conference is “Hindi-Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence”. The meeting was also attended by Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Biman Prasad, Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar, Hon. Charan Jeath Singh and Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Hon. Agni Deo Singh.“This forum presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the enduring strength of the historical and special relationship, Fiji shares with India. Our relationship can be traced back to our shared colonial heritage. As a result of evolving colonial policies on economic development between 1879 and 1916, around 60,000 Indians were brought to Fiji, under the indenture system to work on sugarcane plantations.The three day program will discuss how Artificial intelligence can be used to preserve advancing multilingualism, and supporting the diversity of languages.
