The meeting in Ljubljana launches the 22nd edition of the European Diplomatic Programme (EDP), bringing together heads of diplomatic academies in EU member states, representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and approximately 50 European junior diplomats (altogether approximately 100 participants).
The aim of the event is to exchange views on current trends and approaches in diplomatic training and to provide a teaching environment (workshops) for junior diplomats. The activities in Ljubljana will focus on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (security), the Green Deal (climate change) and the Western Balkans (strategic partnerships). The meeting in Ljubljana will constitute Module I of the EDP, to be followed by Module II (in member states) and Module III (in Brussels). The programme will conclude in 2022 in France, which is holding the subsequent presidency of the Council of the European Union (Module IV).
