The high-level conference ‘EU animal welfare today and tomorrow’ will constitute an opportunity for stakeholders to validate the preliminary findings of the fitness check of the current EU animal welfare legislation. It will also offer a possibility to express opinions on the Commission’s main ideas on the revision of the EU animal welfare acquis.
The conference will be opened by European Commissioner Stella Kyriakides and will gather the main players in the field of animal welfare from the EU and beyond. The keynote speech will be delivered by the world-renowned ethologist and conservationist, Dr Jane Goodall.
During 5 interactive thematic panels, high-level experts will address the main animal welfare issues to be tackled by the future European legislation: end the cage age, welfare at farm, labelling, transport and slaughter.
