When unconditional love for Cuba outweighs Pandemics and Blockades

Helsinki, March 4th. – This afternoon a fraternal virtual meeting was held between the Cuba-Finland Friendship Association and the embassy of the Greater Antilles in this capital.

During the meeting, the Charge D’Affaires a.i of Cuba in Finland, Víctor Manuel Rodríguez Etcheverry, made a presentation before 35 members of the “Suomi-Kuuba Seura”, its President and Vice President Paula Pere and Tomi Kuhanen, respectively, as well as the assistant parliamentarian and secretary of the Friendship Group with Cuba in the Finnish Parliament Meerit Jallow.

The Cuban diplomat explained details about the current reality of the island in the context of the pandemic; the development of the 5 Cuban vaccine candidates against COVID-19; the latest measures to intensify the Blockade of the outgoing United States Administration; the sure continuity of the Revolution after the VIII Congress of the PCC and the positive bilateral relations between Cuba and Finland.

This presentation was dedicated to the victims of the sabotage of the French ship “La Coubre”, a sadly famous event that, this March 4th, reached its 61st anniversary and where the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro took advantage of the occasion of their funeral to pronounce the slogan of “Homeland or Death”.

The current epidemiological situation makes impossible that friends of Cuba can join a presence meeting in a closed space or plan various cultural activities for now, but no pandemic has prevented them from continuing to profess their unconditional love for our rebel Island, even if it is virtually.
