Tribute to the fighters for independence in Greece was paid

Athens, the counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in Greece José Oriol Marrero Martinez accompanied by staff of the Embassy and Greek solidarity friends, paid tribute to the fighters for the independence of Greece at the monument to the Spartan hero Leonidas in the Thermopylae gorge where the historic battle against the Persians was fought.
On his Facebook, Oriol Marrero wrote:
“2,501 years after the Battle of Thermopylae: Cuban and Hellenic tribute to those who offered their lives in the fight for the independence of the occupying empires: “Leonidas from the Thermopylae points the way to the Cubans. ” Jose Marti.”
This action, where they placed a laurel wreath on behalf of the Cuban people to the Greek people, and they walked the kilometers traveled by the traitor who led the Persians to the Greek rear, was a tribute to the resistance and the fight for freedom, which inspired our national hero at the time. It also reflects the spirit of resistance and heroism of the Cuban people at a time when the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, the aggressions, threats and campaigns against Cuba are intensifying.
The Cuban people will continue to resist. As in the Thermopylae, as Martí said that path of resistance and struggle for freedom is the one that Cubans will follow. It does not matter that there are modern traitors like the one who led the Persians against the heroic Greek army, who knew how to die on the shield before surrendering. The Cuban people will continue to defend their revolution to the cry of Homeland or death, We will win, because #LaRazonEsNuestroEscudo. (The reason is our shield)
