Tribute to Fidel in Athens.

Athens November 25. The Cuban Embassy in Greece and Velisarios Kossivakis, director of NewStar arte Cinema, organized an evening of tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro on the fifth anniversary of his physical departure.
Velisarios Kossivakis, Noemi Rabaza, vice president of ICAP, spoke on video, and Zelmys María Dominguez Cortina, ambassador of Cuba, who delivered the main words of the event.
The ambassador, in addition to paying tribute to the Commander’s legacy, explained the current situation in Cuba, the blockade and the provocations of the United States towards Cuba and thanked the support and solidarity of the Greek friends towards the Cuban people. In addition, she mentioned the organizations and parties that sent messages of solidarity for the date, highlighting Fidel’s legacy as a source of inspiration for the Greek people.
Several videos about the life and work of Fidel and several songs in his honor were also presented.
It was an emotional event that was attended by numerous Greek political forces and solidarity friends, including Giorgios Marinos, member of the Political Bureau in charge of international relations for the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and member of the Greek Parliament; Lefteris Nikolaos Alavanos MEP of the KKE and member of the party’s International Relations department, Aris Evangelidis responsible for Latin America in the same department, Yannis Bournos, deputy head of the International Relations department of the Syriza / Democratic Alliance party and vice-president of the parliamentary group of friendship with Cuba in the Hellenic Parliament; Nikolaos Syrmalenios is also a member of the group and a member of the parliament by Syriza; leadership and members of the Hellenic Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity of Athens; from the José Martí Cultural Association of solidarity with Cuba; the Greek Committee for International Democratic Solidarity (EEDDA); of the Greek Committee for Distension and Peace; members of the KKE, the Communist Youth, the NAAR party; from Diethness Vima Publishing House and the general public.
