The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in India paid tribute to José Martí.

New Delhi, January 28, 2022. The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in India paid tribute to the most universal of Cubans, our national hero José Martí, on the occasion of the 169th anniversary of his birth. The ceremony was presided over by Ambassador Alejandro Simancas Marin, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country and Ramit Singh Chimni, member of the jury of the UNESCO International José Martí Prize.

The Cuban ambassador and Ramit Singh placed a floral offering at the bust of the Apostle located at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission. Furthermore, they highlighted the transcendence of his humanist, internationalist and solidarity thinking.

Vibha Maurya, professor of Latin American studies, noted the validity of Marti’s ideas and the need to continue disseminating his work for the study of future generations.

Likewise, Indian student Samar Khan, from Jamia Millia Islamia University, recited in Spanish and Hindi the famous Marti’s poems “I grow a white rose” and “I am a sincere man”.
