End the US blockade NOW!
The Cyprus-Cuban Friendship Association expresses its full support and solidarity with the struggling people of Cuba, where for 6 decades it has been experiencing the criminal imposition of economic, commercial and financial blockade implemented by the United States. Through the barbaric and inhumane blockade, the United States seeks to impoverish the Cuban people and overthrow the Cuban Revolution. As in other cases, the US unilateral sanctions and exclusion decisions are intended to create resentment and upset among the victimized population.
The escalation of US aggression against Cuba is reflected on the imposition of the additional 243 measures since the outburst of the pandemic. Measures that have affected the country’s economy as well as the daily life of the people, measures that were imposed at a time where the import of medical and essential supplies are necessary.
Therefore, the ongoing escalation of the murderous blockade is sharpening the obstacles the Cuban people facing. It is at least immoral and hypocritical for the United States, as the most responsible force for the difficulties of the Cuban people, to speak of a “humanitarian crisis” in Cuba and to express as usual its “agony” for “Democracy and human rights” of the Cubans.
The Cyprus-Cuban Friendship Association strongly condemns the imperialist actions against Cuba, who aim to overthrow the conquests of the Cuban people. In addition, it expresses its solidarity with the Cuban people and unites its voice with the condemnation of any scenario of imperialist intervention in Cuba, under the pretext of “Democracy and Human Rights”. Finally, the Cyprus-Cuban Friendship Association calls the people of Cyprus to stand in the side of Cuba and demand the immediate termination of the criminal blockade along with the full respect of the sovereignty and independence of Cuba.
