The Cuban Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, Roger López García, in the framework of the annual meeting of the of the Danish Friendship Association, highlighted that the values of solidarity and internationalism practiced by Cuba since the beginning, have been the guiding principles in the trajectory of the Cuban Revolution
López García, among several events, highlighted the feat of the 57 brigades of the “Henry Reeve” Contingent, which have collaborated in the fight against the pandemic in 40 countries, which joined the 28 thousand professionals already working in 59 nations. He also mentioned the contributions received from other nations, and recognized the unquestionable support of Danish friends in the battle for the release of the Cuba five, and currently, in the fight against the imperialist blockade.
The diplomat explained the extreme actions of pressure, harassment, destabilization attempts, and economic piracy, which have reached unprecedented levels of aggressiveness; as an expression of the tightening of the blockade, the consequences of which persist with the callousness of the Government of President Joe Biden, which maintains the policies implemented by the Donald Trump administration against Cuba.
The representative of Cuba denounced, as did the National Assembly of People’s Power, that a small group of MEPs, who respond to Washington’s agenda, are trying to break the ties that unite us to the European Union (EU), and to stop the implementation of the existing Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement. “We cannot allow slander, nor the intolerant extremism with which they try to judge us” selectively and with the language of double standards, declared López García.
The meeting allowed to pay tribute to the 62nd triumph of the Cuban Revolution, which stands firm alongside its people, preserving the ideals of justice and equality, friendship and solidarity, seeking its independent path convinced that capitalism, and the colonial period that we left, will never return to the country. He added, as ratified by the 8th. Congress of the PCC, the conviction of Cuba in the construction of a prosperous and sustainable socialism.
The meeting served to remember the celebration of the 110th anniversary of bilateral relations, whose most relevant event was the visit of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, to Denmark, to attend the Social Development Summit in 1995, and allowed him to have a relevant encounter with numerous friends who gave him a warm welcome.
