Stop the Blockade, it’s a Virus too

Statement by the Jamaica Cuba Friendship Association:

‘Stop the Blockade it’s a virus too’, is the rallying call by progressive humanity, as the Caravan against the Blockade of Cuba, makes another journey (April 24-25), to highlight the crime against humanity that this 60-year old illegal and criminal action by successive administrations of the US government, has had on the lives of the citizens of our sister nation.

The Jamaica solidarity movement with Cuba joins with all people of good will, in demanding the unconditional removal of this criminal ‘knee off the neck’ of our sister country and allow it to chart its own inalienable and sovereign path of political, economic and social development.

A path that is deeply rooted in the words of the apostle of Cuba’s independence Jose Marti and ‘made flesh’ by historic leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel , ‘homeland is humanity’ and the peoples of the world have not had a better example of solidarity and the biblical tenets of being your ‘brother’s keeper’, since that decisive blow was struck against the empire in January 1959.

We call on the administration of US President Joseph Biden to match his campaign words with deeds, as Cuba is in nobody’s backyard and will continue to be the beacon of hope for all of us who struggle for a better world.

A luta continua
