Staff of the Cuban Embassy in Liberia remembers Mandela on the 103rd anniversary of his birth.

Monrovia, July 18, 2021 – On the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the birth of South African leader Nelson Mandela, the Cuban diplomatic mission in Liberia paid tribute to this universal symbol of peace, at a time when we have to rescue the example of his figure in the fight against all types of discrimination.

In November 2009, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed July 18 Nelson Mandela International Day in recognition of the contribution made by the former President of South Africa to the culture of peace and freedom, his sacrifice for the liberation of Africans and his service to human rights and democracy. This day also commemorates the struggle against racism and apartheid.

Mandela has been and is a globally recognized figure by all. His image and message, even after his death, still linger in the memory of millions of people.
