Solidarity Day for Cuba Evidence of Global Rejection of Blockade

Havana, March 28.-Cuban emigrants and friendship groups in countries of Europe, Africa and Latin America are calling for an end to the United States blockade against the island with acts, caravans and other solidarity actions.
The initiatives, which have been extended this weekend, took place in Russia, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Namibia, Gambia, Angola, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, among another thirty nations.
The first day of the International Caravan in Russia exceeded expectations, activists from solidarity organizations and movements manifested on the YouTube channel Europe for Cuba.
The host of the program, Lena Loshkina, head of the Russian Committee for the lifting of the blockade on the island, acknowledged that so far actions have been carried out in more than 18 cities.
For their part, British and Cubans residing in the United Kingdom joined from their places of residence to the world day, given the restrictions by Covid-19.
The Cuban community residing in Lebanon broadcast an audiovisual through social networks as part of their rejection of the blockade.
On the other hand, in Italy nationals and Cubans met in open spaces to demonstrate, once again, their condemnation of the hostile policy of Washington maintained for six decades against the people of the Caribbean nation.
The president of the Dominican Union of Journalists for Peace, Juan Pablo Acosta, told Prensa Latina about his support for this campaign against the US siege.
Likewise, the also vice president of the World Peace Council, asked all the governments and free men of the world to request “the immediate end of said blockade, as has been the claim of the UN for many years.”
More than a hundred people representing various sectors of French society gathered in the vicinity of the emblematic Trocadéro esplanade with the same objective.
The day before, other cities in France, Ireland and Sweden kicked off the actions of global rejection of the blockade.
This Sunday activities are planned in several locations in the United States, Canada and Latin America mainly.
The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted and thanked the world caravans organized by emigration and friends of the Caribbean nation.
“The fight for fairness unites us,” the president wrote through his account on the social network Twitter.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, the island’s largest mass organization, also thanked activists around the world for showing solidarity.
Cuba will also join this project because the Union of Young Communists called today a similar mobilization in gratitude for the world days of solidarity.
